There’s a saying that when we come to the end of one year and the beginning of a new year, it can be thought of as New year, New you. YOU. This is the all-important noun in the saying.

YOU are not static; you are made of dynamic possibilities. Each of us is in possession of being the catalyst for discovering new dimensions of ourselves, what we didn’t realize we wanted, didn’t realize we were capable of, didn’t realize we cared about more than we knew.

There is another saying: Plus sa change, plus c’est le meme chose – the more things change the more they remain the way they are -- which can be said with a tone of resignation to indicate that improvements or changes haven’t made any difference. Here is how I see this: who you are is gifted with the capacity to reach further inward, outward, and upward; of understanding, more-and-more, the deeper levels of why you are here and the unique contribution and impact you have perfectly developed yourself to be able to make. Not the labels. Not the roles, not the pigeon holes you’ve been placed in by those who have decided for one reason or another that they know who you are better than you do, not the accomplishments that you have achieved so far or have yet to achieve, not the compromises you’ve made or the ways you’ve shrunken the impact and importance of your voice and contribution in terms of what matters to you most. 

What could a new chapter of being you, authentic, energized, happier, more engaged and fulfilled look like? What forms could your strengths and capabilities lend themselves to? What could be so at the end of this new year that you could be so grateful you generated?
